New Hope completed the 2022 season with a 4-6 record. Last year New Hope finished sixth in Class 4A region eight with a 2-5 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. New Hope was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Indians want to be competitive. They only averaged 17.8 points a game. Since 2010, New Hope has gone a combined 56-77. Their 42.1% winning percentage ranks 41st in Class 4A over the past thirteen seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, New Hope has managed to compile a record of 102-152. Their 40.0% winning percentage ranks 45th in Class 4A and 287th in the AHSAA. The Indians are led by head coach Tyler Johnson who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 4-6 record in his first season at New Hope. The Indians have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Johnson. The Indians could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region eight this season with a few breaks and a little improvement. New Hope has failed to qualify for the playoffs since 2015 but hope to return to the post season this year. The Indians open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Sardis on Friday, September 1 at Lions Stadium. Last year the Sardis Lions finished with an overall record of 4-6 and in sixth place in Class 5A region seven. The Lions ended last season on a positive note with a win over Hokes Bluff by a score of 16-14 after failing to gain a playoff spot. New Hope and Sardis have met a total of 16 times on the football field. The Indians have a 7-9-0 record against the Lions.
